Ana Maria Belo


Ana Maria graduated from NIDA in 1998. She then went on to carve a very eclectic career for herself in the industry. Starting with Musical theatre she toured Australia starring in hit musicals such as Fame and Hair. She was nominated for a Green Room Award for her portrayal of Jeanie in Hair. Other theatre credits include The Listmaker for Bell Shakespeare Company; Noises Off for Ensemble Theatre Company, Dr Akars Women for Griffin Theatre Company; Company B’s production of Snugglepot & Cuddlepie and the Australian tour of Steel Magnolias. 


Ana Maria also led the Baby Proms Space Symphony at The Sydney Opera House And Melbourne Recital Hall. Nina Raines’ powerful play Tribes is what brought Ana Maria back to the Ensemble Theatre Company. For her role as Sylvia Ana Maria won a Glug award and was nominated for a Sydney Theatre award.  


Ana Maria had audiences in stitches in the World Premiere of Fawlty Towers Live, then had them laughing again as Camila in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In The Heights.

Television credits include All Saints, Home & Away, White Collar Blue, House Husbands, Doctor Doctor, Secret City 2 and in the UK: According To Bex and Life Begins. Ana Maria has appeared in the feature films A Cold Summer, The Casting Game and The Book of Revelation. She won the Tropfest Women In Film award for her short film Things To Do, which she wrote, produced, co-directed and starred in. Her short film Magic Words picked up the People’s choice award at The Projects film festival in Sydney.


Ana Maria has also produced and starred in a web-series Real Tinder Nightmares.
